Helen Georgia On The Way - BigDs
BBQ
These guys are just one of a few of my favorite BBQ spots. If you’re
traveling to Helen Georgia early, you can’t miss BigDs breakfast.
I have two breakfast favorites while traveling up Ga. 400 North and
this is one of them. Homemade biscuits with bacon, sausage, red hots,
or tenderloin, and top it off with some good ol homemade gravy makes
BigDs the spot for an excellent breakfast for the early morning traveler.
The biscuits are right, and made to please any southerner. Don’t
let that take away from the quality of BBQ. The stew is too die for.
BigDs serves only the finest St Louis style ribs, no baby back here.
You
can even fill up the little ones here with some hefty helping kids meals.
The first time I ordered the stew I was somewhat skeptical. I typically
will not eat stew that is mushy. I tried there stew, and the tomato
taste was just perfect.
The stew did not have a real strong taste of smoked meat to it, but
all the flavors complimented one another perfectly. The taste was such
that the flavor of each ingredient stood out on its own, yet mixed well
with the other ingredients. Oh and whatever you do, don’t forget
to try the Cole slaw. For the true southern folks, the sweet tea is
real, with that perfect clean goes down easy sweet tea with a dash of
lemon.
The atmosphere is great, and I especially enjoyed sitting outside on
the patio enjoying my BBQ with the nice cool breeze. The BBQ pork sandwiches
were very juicy, for me juicy meat is a must for any BBQ spot to get
my attention.
Believe me, I don’t know of one BBQ spot in or around this area
that I haven’t tried, and if the meat is dry, I will not even
waste my time writing about it. Moist and tender BBQ meat is the first
thing any BBQ joint has to get right from the very beginning.
