Helen Georgia - Cherokee Campground

Just a good budget campground. Nothin real fancy, no lakeside camping, no sleeping beside a flowing mountain stream, but a very clean and well shaded camping area with water, Wi-Fi, and electricity at a fair budget price. This campground hosts tents, pop up campers, and tents. The campground is managed by a good ol down to earth fellow, Phillip Sheridan.

The campground is located just about 5 miles from the Alpine village of Helen. Ga.

The bath houses are served by clean well water, and the bath houses are kept very clean.

There is a recreation hall which has a nice wide screen TV, ping pong table, checkers table, dart board, microwave, drink machine, and refrigerator for use by it's visitors. It's nothing elaborate, but a nice spot to hang out at late at night, or in between enjoying your mountain activities.

There is a kids playground elaborate enough to keep the little ones from becoming bored, and a nice picnic deck area for all visitors use. There is also a tetherball court, and a fairly nice little basketball court for use by visitors.

The night I stayed here was almost magical, me and a friend of mine camped here to experience it personally so I could write this review, and it was a cool May evening, and we decided to visit the recreation hall. It just happens that the evening we were there, there was a small group of musicians playing and singing in the recreation hall. Being an avid guitarist, i joined in, and had a great memorable experience.

In all, like I said, this is a fair priced budget campground just a short drive outside of Helen, Ga., it has all the basic ammenities for a comfortable stay. If your the type like myself that doesn't care about a real scenic campground with lakes, rivers, and luxurious ammenities, but mostly just needs a comfortable budget campsite to set up your tent, sleep, and take off the next morning for mountain adventures, then this is it.
