Helen Georgia - Helen Country Diner (Formerly Dees Helen Diner )

Ok, they have finally just opened a really killer breakfast spot in Helen Ga. I really hope this small diner stays in business forever. There are many mornings I just want a quick home made biscuit in the morning, so I can rush out to the river to start my trout fishing.
This is just that place. By the way, the name has changed to Helen City Diner.

The dining area is so small it’s about the size of a master bedroom in someone’s home, there is a nice small deck outside where I sit at to eat my breakfast, and the service is perfect, I do mean perfect. These are just some good down to earth folks serving up an awesome home cooked breakfast.

The one thing I love is they have two things that are difficult to find at other breakfast places especially in or near Helen Ga., and that’s red hot link sausage biscuits, and really good thick home style white gravy.

The Red Link, Country Ham, country fried steak, are all three excellent meat choices. They offer a variety of omelets, and various egg breakfast plates with choice of home fries or grits. Here’s a hint, go for the home fries, you will be back for more trust me.

The sweet tea that we southern folks are so demanding of is hit right on by these folks, the tea has a clean fresh taste, and they even remember the finest of details offering a nice fresh lemon slice to go with it.

They do offer lunch which to me is so so, but the breakfast is literally to me award winning. Now it’s very difficult for me to decide every morning I wake up in Helen Ga between this place, and The Farmers Market café breakfast buffet.

Heres a tip: If you order the red link sausauge biscuit, it comes with enough meat for two or more biscuits. If your eating with another person, order one red link sausauge biscuit, and then one plain biscuit, and make two red link sausuage biscuits. Trust me they pack three big red links on each biscuit.
