Helen Georgia – Fred’s Famous Peanuts

Yes it’s true they have managed to make one of the best peanuts in the mountains. Established in 1982 Fred’s Famous Peanuts has tried several crafts including stained glass, soft sculpture, and yes even basket weaving, but their forte and specialty has always been the peanut.

Fred’s Famous Peanuts is just one of those little spots you have to visit while in Helen Georgia. The stand is a delightful old cabin boasting perfect photo opportunities along with some unique gifts, and the only ones I have ever heard of or found anywhere that serves frozen homemade peach cider. The frozen homemade peach cider is well worth the visit within itself.

Stop in for free samples, and take some pictures with your friends sitting beside the old folks soft sculptures sitting lazily on the bench overseeing the real working water wheel.
Stop by at the right time, and you may even get in on a quick game of racquetball on famous Fred’s court.

In season, you can find apples and cider, pumpkins, and all sorts of mountain products. With an ever revolving supply of products, you never know just what type of mountain products to expect, so do make this one of your regular stops with every visit to Helen Georgia.
