Helen Georgia Alpine Village
This is a quiet small budget eight room village directly across the
street from the Chattahoochee River, and a short walking distance to
all of the Helen Georgia shops. From the small Inn, you can walk to
just about anything you want to do in Helen Georgia. It is located right
next door to The Hayloft, a local bar and diner, probably 500’
from the Pirates Cove miniature Golf, and probably less than a half
mile from the main Helen Georgia shopping area.
The
Inn is privately owned and managed by a sweetheart named Julia. The
rooms are very well maintained, and very clean. The amenities are minimal,
there are a few rooms with a kitchenette, and there is no swimming pool.
There is a nice well lit patio located in the courtyard area that has
tables and chairs set up, with a nice big grill available for guest
cookouts. The air conditioners will freeze you out even on the hottest
summer days, and Julia does have coffee, orange juice, and doughnuts
ready in the mornings. I will usually wake up, go to the office, sit
down with a nice cup of orange juice and a doughnut, and watch the news
and talk with Julia for a few minutes before starting my day. It’s
a pleasant ritual when I stay here.
The architecture is that of an old German Inn. The interiors are old
school seventies style, but a very comfortable stay. One of the best
trout fishing spots on the Chattahoochee River in Helen Georgia is located
just downstream from the bridge which is located almost directly across
the street from here next to the Fest hall. Just exit the parking area
of the Inn, walk to your left a few hundred feet, and you will see the
Fest Hall, and bridge in front of you. Just about a hundred feet downstream
from the bridge behind the Fest Hall, you will see a deep pool, at the
right time of the day you can catch your limit of fresh rainbow trout
within an hour or two.
