Helen Ga Tubing

Helen Ga Tubing has grown to be one of the absolute biggest activities to ever hit Helen Georgia. All ages baby to seniors hop on a tube on a hot sunny afternoon, and enjoy a mostly shaded Helen Ga Tubing river tour down the Chattahoochee River running through Helen Georgia. Adding cool water activities as a way to escape the summer heat is a huge plus to help spur an increase in visitors for any mountain tourist area. I have to admit at first that I was not too fond of all the tubers floating down the river, and getting in the way of all of us guys that were trying to trout fish, but as a regular visitor to Helen Ga, I eventually found myself joining right in with the Helen Ga Tubing fun. I soon figured out that during the hottest few weeks of the summer, that the best way to enjoy my stay in Helen Georgia was to jump in the water around twelve thirty in the afternoon until around six when it starts cooling off. There is no better answer to beating the steaming hot Georgia heat than a nice relaxing day having fun in the water, getting out around 6:00, going to your motel to get dressed, and then having a mildly cool evening walking around all the shops, shopping, and dining in Helen Georgia. It just makes for the perfect weekend.

There are two main Helen Ga. tubing facilities located in Helen Georgia, Cool River Tubing, and the Helen Water Park. Choosing between the two main tubing facilities is all in your preference, and I have tried both the Cool River Tubing, and Helen Water Park. Just make sure you know the differences between the both, and which one you want before you just jump on a bus or rush into one of the facilities to jump on a tube. Both facilities have adequate picnic areas, and both facilities are easy to find considering they stretch from one end of Helen Georgia to the other, but if you can’t find one or the other, just follow a bus, they run through Helen Georgia constantly throughout the day. Both parks are open Memorial Day to Labor Day from 9:00am to 6:00pm seven days a week weather permitting. Try to utilize the information, the pictures, slideshows, and videos on each facility below to best decide ahead of time which will deliver the best Helen Ga Tubing experience for you and your family. You may even decide to just tube one day using Cool River Tubing, and decide the next day to just spend the day at the Helen Water Park, and not tube at all.

Helen Water Park

Helen Water Park is a full blown small scale water park, whereas the waterslide you can go down at a midway point and slide on when you tube Cool River Tubing is just two slides, and does not have any areas you can just hang out all day in the water.

Helen Water Park consists of four water slides that are VERY fast, and the best part about the Helen Water Park is that it has a 1000' lazy river with controlled water, which means you don't get stuck ever! NO ROCKS, NO WALKING, NO SNAKES, NO WORRIES! This is very cool, because you can just lie back in your tube, relax, listen to the music coming over the loud speakers, and drift away.

The lazy river goes in a complete circle, and at one point along the route, you go under a very light water dripping area that cools you off with a stream of water. So if you really just want a place to just enjoy a small water park for the day, then Helen Water Park is it. Most of the time, I just purchase the ticket to the water park, hang out there floating around the 1000’ lazy River, and don’t even fool with tubing in the Chattahoochee.

There is a very nice picnic area just outside of the water park with riverside picnic tables, and grills for cooking out, there are also plenty of shaded picnic tables available within the park under the shaded pavillion.

Cool River Tubing

Cool River Tubing is a little less money, and the best route to go if your main interest is in tubing down the Chattahoochee River through Helen Georgia. Once you enter the river, there is a spot where you exit the Chattahoochee River, and walk up to the waterslide area. There are only two water slides, not very fast, and the pool at the bottom of the slide must be exited immediately after you enter from the end of the slide, so it’s not like you can just hang out and play in the pool for a few hours, it’s pretty much slide down the water slide, get out of the pool area at the bottom of the slide, and do it again till your tired of it, and then get back on your tube, and continue floating down the Chattahoochee River.
