Helen Georgia – Wendell’s Country Restaurant

Breakfast served all day… Sweeeeet

Here is one of only a few perfect breakfast spots. It’s about a five minute drive outside of the Helen Georgia main city area, but very much well worth the drive. The atmosphere is very comfortable, old cottage style home style country setting. Very economically priced, and believe me, you will get full. Wendell’s in Helen Georgia is one of my regular spots; I eat at least one meal here upon every Helen Georgia visit.

Wendell’s in Helen Georgia serves up all the perfect breakfast menu items including eggs cooked to order, sausage, bacon, chicken, steak, omelets, grits, gravy, and even French toast.

One of my Wendell’s favorite is the chicken biscuit. The first time I ordered on of their chicken biscuits, I couldn’t believe the size. It was more like a large cathead country style hot homemade biscuit, and a lunch size serving of boneless fried chicken. Needless to say, that filled me up real good.

Wendell’s only serves breakfast and lunch no dinners, and don’t let my emphasis on the awesome breakfast that Wendell’s serves all day take away from the fact that this is probably one of the best country home style cooking places around Helen Georgia. Wendell’s also offers an all you can eat special on Sundays for a mere $7.99; you can’t beat this anywhere. Wendell’s Country Restaurant has the truly unique home style cooking taste, not the bland taste you get at many of your buffet style type restaurants.

I typically will only eat BBQ at a true BBQ restaurant, but one weekend that I was at Wendell’s, and decided I would just give their BBQ a shot. I have to say, that their BBQ could easily rank among some of the award winning BBQ establishments I have surveyed. The taste was so unique; I even suggested that they start really emphasizing their excellent BBQ on all of their advertising pieces, and menus.

One thing I really want to point out about Wendell’s, is their sweet tea. The tea here has that fresh, unclouded taste you only get with fresh brewed tea, but the down side, is that they don’t have real lemons, the only lemon is lemon juice packs, so if you visit there, tell them they need to have real fresh cut lemon slices to compliment the best glass of sweet tea available in Helen Georgia.
